Family-Friendly Summer Activities Continue at the Hattiesburg Zoo

HATTIESBURG The Hattiesburg Zoo continues to offer opportunities for family-friendly fun throughout the Summer with the introduction of Friday Night ZOOvies, ZOOCream and a Back-in-School Blues event!

Kicking off on July 12 and happening every Friday night through August 2, Friday Night ZOOvies offers families a fun-filled outdoor experience inside the Hattiesburg Zoo. The weekly events will each offer Splash Pad access and animal encounters leading up to a wildly popular Zoo-themed movie shown on an outdoor movie screen. Concessions will be available that include dinner options such as Hot Dog, Chicken Bites and Pizza Stick combos. Candy, popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream and beverages will also be available throughout the night for purchase.

Friday Night ZOOvies will begin at 6pm each week with the movie starting at 8pm. Admission is $5 and tickets may be purchased at the gate. While seating will be available, guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets in order to make the most of their Zoo experience.

On Saturday, July 20 the Hattiesburg Zoo will honor National Ice Cream Day with the unveiling of ZOOCream, featuring the Zoo’s own artisanal flavors of ice cream such as Fresh-picked Blueberry Oreo, Nutter Butter Banana Pudding and ‘Smores! Traditional flavors of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate will also be available. ZOOCream will be available for purchase from the Zoo’s Concession Stand in 4 oz. cups for only $3.50 each.

To round out the summer, the Hattiesburg Zoo will host a Back-In-School Blues event featuring live blues music inside the Zoo on Saturday, August 10. Guests will enjoy truly authentic blues entertainment from 11am until 3pm, free with admission. The Concession Stand will also be featuring award-winning barbeque by local chef Grant Ford.  Guests of the Zoo are encouraged to bring school supplies to this event that will be donated to neighborhood schools.
