FrogWatch Training

2 p.m. to 4 p.m. :: Saturday, January 11 & Saturday, January 25

Would you like to be a TOAD-ally cool hero?  Join the Hattiesburg Zoo’s FrogWatch chapter and become an advocate for our amphibian friends!

Amphibians are on the decline, but you can help by simply monitoring the calls of native frogs and toads.  Anyone above the age of 8 is eligible to participate in FrogWatch, and the program is FREE of charge

To join the Hattiesburg Zoo’s FrogWatch chapter, follow these 3 simple steps:

  • Register by January 10 to attend one training session held at the Hattiesburg Zoo (available dates below)
  • Register a wetland site near you (you'll find out about this at training!)
  • At least twice a week, listen and chart frog and toad calls during the breeding season  (all monitoring sessions must be conducted 30 minutes after sunset)

Upcoming Training Sessions:

  • January 11, 2014   2:00pm – 4:00pm
  • January 25, 2014  2:00pm – 4:00pm

Volunteers between the ages of 8 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult for training sessions and site monitoring.
